We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to work in our busy Burnie Component Rebuild Centre.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Reporting to the Specialisation Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out minor and major repairs on the full range of Caterpillar components including Engines, Transmissions, Hydraulic pumps, valves, and cylinders.

 

Operating engine and transmission dynameters.

 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Carrying out overhaul, repairs and maintenance of earthmoving, construction, mining and agricultural components
  • Troubleshooting and testing of components, engine transmissions, fuel system
  • Ensuring appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are applied at all times
  • Comply with all company safety, health & environment procedures
  • Providing quality customer service at all times
  • Guide & mentor trade assistants & apprentices 

ABOUT YOU

 

To be considered for this role we are looking for the following skills, experience & attributes:

 

Essential requirements:

  • Qualified Diesel Technician
  • Committed to delivering superior customer service
  • Physically able to lift manually 20kgs, drive and operate plant & machinery, work in varied conditions (outdoors, heat, dust, cold etc), sit/stand for extended periods
  • A strong commitment to safety, health & environment procedures
  • Component rebuild experience (engine, Transmission, Final Drives, Cylinders etc)

Desirable requirements: 

  • Familiarity of Caterpillar computer diagnostics
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Working knowledge of parts & service systems
  • Previous supervision or mentoring of trades assistants/apprentices
