Diesel Technician

Our Dandenong branch currently has a vacancy for a highly experienced CAT trained Diesel Technician to work in our busy service workshop.




Reporting to the Branch Manager , you will be responsible for carrying out minor and major repairs on the full range of Diesel Engines and components, while encouraging the positive development of our apprentices.


Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Carrying out repairs and maintenance of engines and components from earthmoving, construction, mining and agricultural equipment
  • Completion of all paperwork relating to the completion of jobs
  • Providing quality customer service at all times
  • Troubleshooting of Engine / component problems
  • Ensuring appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are applied at all times
  • Comply with all company safety, health & environment procedures
  • Ensure the company property & tools maintained and returned to their location
  • Maintaining a high level of presentation standards



To be considered for this role we are looking for the following skills, experience & attributes:


Essential requirements:

  • Legally entitled to live & work in Australia
  • Qualified Diesel Technician
  • Strong mechanical ability essential
  • Advanced Diagnostic skills and technical knowledge, especially with a background in engine building and repair.
  • Committed to delivering superior customer service
  • Proactive with a can-do attitude
  • Proven ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
  • Reliable & punctual
  • Physically able to lift manually 20kgs, drive and operate plant & machinery, work in varied conditions (outdoors, heat, dust, cold etc), sit/stand for extended periods
  • A strong commitment to safety, health & environment procedures

Desirable requirements: 

  • Familiarity of Caterpillar computer diagnostics
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • DBS, SupportPoint, Lotus Notes, SIS experience is highly regarded
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Current Heavy Vehicle Licence
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Working knowledge of parts & service systems
  • Previous supervision or mentoring of trades assistants/apprentices
